Devout, faithful Anglicans should never accept same-sex marriage, because it is an affront to the traditional family values upheld by Henry VIII and his wife, Catherine of Aragon, and his wife, Anne Boleyn, and his wife, Jane Seymour,

Besides of course, your natural rights as human beings, I don’t argue that you DO have all of these rights, its just up to you to get them written, in a book, for future generations. So there wont be any questions on it. Hey don’t worry, religious fanatics still think God put all of the dinosaurs to sleep or it was a big hoax, I mean, that’s the mentality your dealing with, the level of intelligence, they only hate on you and your way of life cause they’re doing what they do best, following.
Roushyy on January 30, 2010 at 12:44 am
Roll back your rights? I’m sorry friend but you never had any, just like many groups in American history you are going through the fight to establish them, fighting as the underdog, and winning. Many have done this before you, so a word of advice to anybody who is looking to establish gay rights, study history, there are examples, learn from their struggles, and triumphs. Best of luck, Any good soul goes to heaven, an all knowing God sees purity not sexuality, kindness, and cringes at hate.

They were deists and secularlist,to name a few
Benjamin Franklin
Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Payne
Our country was founded on secular principles,it is the only way it can actually acheive the goal of equality and freedom for all.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”
It would be impossible to be a free country if the U.S.A. was founded on Christian principles,it would be giving prefrence to christians only, instead of all people, believers or non believers.

kskerr, your comment is from a month ago, but I wanna respond because you say ‘Being a conservative to me should be about less gov’t interference in peoples’ lives, not letting people marry is pretty damn interfering.’
In Holland, where I live, this is called liberal. It were the liberals who were actually most progressive (while conservative) who initiated gay marriage here and managed with a majority to legalize it. Interesting how conservative can be progressive

Use your own advice. Re-read the bible yourself so that you can stop being a blatant misrepresentation of the message of the Lord.

Don’t forget to recruit breeders too. Straight people like myself are no more comfortable with other people’s religious bullshit affecting our personal lives. We all need to stand up for personal freedom and rights of everybody.
heydano on January 30, 2010 at 7:31 am
before i really started thinking heavily about the issue, i didn’t really care if it was called marriage or civil union. that was wrong. separate is not equal. not allowing it to be called marriage sends a clear message of second-class citizenship to the rest of the world, especially to all the gay kids growing up.
musicnthunder on January 30, 2010 at 7:40 am
There will be a day when we will face no more problems regarding equality. ..

As a conservative heterosexual Christian woman I think those people who attack gay people under those banners are hypocrites. Christians are supposed to love everybody, I don’t see anywhere in the bible that adds “Except homosexuals, you can hate them”. Being a conservative to me should be about less gov’t interference in peoples’ lives, not letting people marry is pretty damn interfering. And I maintain that marriage is secular, if atheists can marry why not gay people?
biggtk on January 30, 2010 at 8:21 am
See depfox, we all new that the religious conservatives didn’t really care about the word ‘marriage’ when it came to our rights. They simply don’t want gays to be anywhere equal with the almighty heterosexual. But since marriage isn’t in the question in Washington state, and only secular rights are involved, what legal evidence backs up the fanatics’ attempt to get discriminate against gays? They can’t say anything about religious freedom, so how can a court allow secular rights to be taken away?
MedievalWerewolf on January 30, 2010 at 9:08 am
Don’t you just love it how Christians think they own the concept of marriage? You know, despite the fact that marriage ceremonies exist for every other religion? Wouldn’t it be considered even worse to blaspheme against “Yahweh” by marrying through another faith than being gay? And this is aside from the fact that marriage is purely a secular institution.
So much inconsistency and hypocrisy. What’s the big deal about the word “marriage” anyway? It’s just a damn word!
mimimarcus on January 30, 2010 at 9:45 am
I know…it’s so sad and pathetic, what’s happening in WA.
Some people just can’t seem to love or at least co-exist with people who are different from them.
PeeFinster on January 30, 2010 at 10:07 am
Homosexuals leave marriage and the little children ALONE!!!
ProtectoroftheTruth on January 30, 2010 at 10:55 am
our founding fathers were mostly Deists. Sure a lot of principles could be said to be Christian but that can be true for about every religion. “In God we trust” wasn’t put on our money until the late 1800s our founders did not coin that phrase.
